Worshiping in homes throughout the Quad Cities and beyond
Fifth Sunday of Lent

Call to Confession
Read aloud:
The children of God fight against sin;
they sob and mourn when they find themselves tempted to do evil;
and, if they fall, rise again
with earnest and unfeigned repentance.
They do these things, not by their own power,
but by the power of the Lord Jesus,
apart from whom they can do nothing.
- Scots Confession, 3.13
Prayer of Confession
Take time for personal prayer, admitting your sin to God and asking for His forgiveness.
Assurance of Pardon
Read aloud:
Hear the good news!
Christ died for us,
Christ rose for us,
Christ reigns in power for us,
Christ prays for us.
Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation.
The old life has gone; a new life has begun.

Key Thought
Sacrifice as ritual, even a good one, is one thing, but the calling to live a
sacrificial life as we look to Christ and follow his example is another.
Outline (take notes!)
In order to adequately understand Paul’s rich theological charge and summary
exhortation, which essentially deals with Christ’s atoning sacrifice and our
necessary response, we must look through 4 lens:
1. An Historical Lens-
2. A Theological Lens-
3. A Contemporary Lens-
4. A Personal Lens-
Practical questions for application
1. What kinds of things about yourself have you sensed that God wants to
change or bring about transformation, especially during this present season
we are in?
2. What would it look like to offer these things to God in worship?
3. What would a sacrificial life mean for your service within the body, but even
more so in our needy world?
Benediction
Read aloud:
May we rise from here, believing in the love and power of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. May we go in peace and be the church, worshiping God wherever we are and giving ourselves in service to others!
