FUPC Life Groups are groups of 8-12 people that follow the ABC format. We are using the name Life Groups instead of small groups because small is just a descriptive word dealing with the size of the group. “Life” Groups mean that in these groups we want to share life with one another as we focus on God. We also know that God is in the business of transforming our lives, and often uses other people to do that.
There are 3 main aspects to Life Groups – ABC.
- “A” stands for Accountability, which all of us need in our pursuit of growing in our love and relationship with Christ.
- “B” stands for Bible study, which is the primary focus of our time together because God uses His word to encourage, teach, rebuke, correct, and train us in righteousness.
- “C” stands for Care because life is hard. Following Christ is hard and, as a church, we want to care for one another well, especially in those seasons when life is hard.
These groups are only for a season, usually 18-30 months. Because it’s a short season, only the people in a Life Group covenant together for that season. Knowing that there will be consistency with the people in a group provides an opportunity to build trust, vulnerability, and be able to speak truth into one another’s lives. When the season of the Life Group is over, a Life Group multiplies, which means that other Groups are created. When this happens, spaces for others to join a Life Group are created.
FUPC’s Life Groups are being put together with care. Currently, there are Life Groups meeting throughout the week. If you are interested in joining a group or would like more information about them, please the Church administrator at 309-762-6857.
